About The Artist

Minh Ngà Dang Vu, known professionally as Minia D., is a contemporary Vietnamese-born abstract artist whose work explores healing, consciousness, spirituality, and the emotional energies that shape human experience. Born in Saigon in 1977 and later raised in Paris by a French adoptive family while maintaining ties to her biological roots, Minia’s multicultural upbringing profoundly influenced both her worldview and artistic voice.

Surrounded by diverse spiritual traditions from an early age — including both Catholic and Buddhist teachings — Minia developed a deep fascination with inner transformation, emotional awareness, and the interconnectedness of life. After studying art history and photography in Paris, she drew inspiration from movements ranging from Impressionism to Abstract Expressionism while gradually developing her own intuitive visual language.

Having lived and created work in Paris, San Francisco, India, and now Miami Beach, Minia’s paintings reflect a life shaped by travel, cultural exploration, healing practices, and personal transformation. Her work seeks to translate invisible emotional and energetic realities into immersive abstract compositions that invite contemplation, presence, and emotional connection.

Aritistic Process

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Minia approaches painting as an intuitive and deeply meditative process. Through multiple layers of color, texture, gesture, and movement, she allows what she describes as an inner guidance — “the otherness” — to influence the rhythm, composition, and emotional direction of each piece.

Her process is closely connected to her personal exploration of healing modalities, including Chi Nei Tsang, an ancient Taoist healing practice centered on the relationship between physical, emotional, and energetic balance. Rather than beginning with rigid concepts or predefined outcomes, Minia allows each painting to evolve organically until a sense of harmony and energetic coherence emerges.

The layered surfaces within her work often mirror shifting emotional states, accumulated life experiences, and the impermanent nature of existence itself. Through fluid movement and atmospheric abstraction, her paintings create spaces that feel both emotionally expressive and quietly meditative.
